TVS launches India’s first ethanol based bike

NEW DELHI: Chennai-based TVSMotor Company Friday launched the country’s first ethanol-powered motorcycle TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi E100 to help bring down crude imports and reduce air pollution. 

The special edition will be available in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh at Rs 120,000. 

TVS Motor Company Chairman Venu Srinivasan said, “Today, the two-wheeler industry is looking at green and sustainable future mobility solutions spanning across electric, hybrid and alternative fuels. TVS Motor Company believes that ethanol-based products are an important option for our customers. This is due to the easy compatibility in the transition to ethanol and its sustained positive impact on the environment without comprising on  performance and total cost of ownership.”

The announcement comes at a time when the government has said it is considering mandating electrification of all three-wheelers and two-wheelers below 150 cc by 2023 and 2025 respectively.
